Egyptian Onion?
Here is a pic of an onion plant that was an emergency transplant, due to it's growing
in the wrong spot at the wrong time, it's growth is a bit stunted as a result. I described
this particular onion to a chef, and he said that it was an Egyptian Onion.
It has the characteristic of growing little bulbs at the ends, as you can see, these can be saved over the winter and will grow into new onion plants. Usually onions grow flowers at the top, which then produce seed.
This particular plant will grow again after the winter if just left alone, probably because the bulbs grow, not sure if the mother plant regrows or not, that is something I would like to know.
This plant was growing in my yard before I even moved in to this place.
